More than a Decade of Excellence

WELCOME

We welcome you to the website of one of the oldest straight Egyptian Arabian Horse breeding farms in Pakistan which is based in Lahore and owned and operated by a well known equestrian – Omer Saleem (OS).

The stud was created at the time when there were very few Arabians and it has played a big and vital role in spreading Arabian Horses throughout Pakistan.

The stud in itself is a very small collection of one of the worlds finest straight Egyptian horses. The variety of impeccable bloodlines coupled with the beautiful strong physique is what makes us a unique stud.

VISION

Our vision is to not just produce beautiful horses, but beautiful, functional, strong Arabian Horses with an excellent disposition that can compete in various equestrian disciplines and can be used in the cause of Allah if need be.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Horses may bring reward to a man, or they may be a means of protection, or they may be a burden (of sin). As for that which brings reward, it is a man who keeps it for the cause of Allah and ties it with a long rope in a pasture or a garden; whatever it eats or drinks in that pasture or garden will count as good deeds for him. If it breaks its rope and jumps over one or two hills, its footsteps -and according to the Hadith of Al-Harith, its dung will count as good deeds for him. If it passes by a river and drinks from it, even though (its owner) did not intend to give it water from that river, that will also bring him reward. If a man keeps a horse in order to earn an independent living and avoid asking others for help, and he does not forget his duty toward Allah with regard to their (the horses’) necks and backs, then they will be a means of protection for him. If a man keeps horses out of pride, to show off before others and to fight the Muslims, then that will be a burden (of sin) for him.’ – (Sunan An Nasai – Hadith Number 3593).

We believe that the present concept of Arabian horse shows/ beauty shows in halter is just a means to show off. Horses in Islam have always been judged on their physical appearance, disposition, lineage etc and not just physical beauty attributes.

WHY STRAIGHT EGYPTIANS ?

Everyone always asks us this question. The first reason is simple – Purity. In the present world, Straight Egyptians have one the purest and undoubted pedigrees in the world. While all Arabians are recognized by World Arab Horse Organization (WAHO) not all are recognized by the Asil Arabian Association etc.

Straight Egyptians are only 2-3% of the total Arabian horse population and for us they are a wonderful combination of beauty and performance. Our horses have proved this time and again in various disciplines of tent pegging, Endurance and Horseback Archery in Pakistan.

AHAP AND THE FUTURE

Al Saleem Arabians played a crucial role in gathering all Arabian horse lovers in Pakistan on to one non monetary forum – Arab Horse Association of Pakistan (AHAP). The goal was to support each other and promote the horse through sports and breeding.

Those were the times when the vast majority of people had not seen an Arabian horse and there was a negative propaganda against the breed. Arabian horse prices were extremely low back then in 2011 and an Arabian was available in less than 0.2 Million PKR.

Fast forward 10 years later to 2021 and thanks to the effort of AHAP and our founder, Omer Saleem (OS) in various disciplines of sports, the Arabian horse is now one of the most expensive breeds in the county and top quality foals even command prices of 2 Million PKR or more.

Unfortunately, the high prices of Arabians has had its own negatives. It has been perceived as a business opportunity for non-equestrians and hence low quality horses have been imported and due to lack of awareness, these low quality Arabian horses and their progeny is being sold in the market for ridiculous prices.

The future is now becoming increasingly unpredictable as these high prices have taken this horse out of the average budget of a horseman and the majority of those who can own them might only keep them for pomp and show and not any proper equestrian sports.

No matter what happens – We will continue with our mission to breed quality above quantity and we will value the traits of Performance and Disposition above anything else.
